For all of you that are curious about exactly what each title is all about, you've come to the right place. Be it Pokemon Trainer, Gym Leader, or Admin, you can be sure to find everything you need to know here.
Pokemon Trainer Many Trainers leave home at about the age of ten, sometimes accompanied with a starter Pokémon obtained from a Pokémon professor, such as Oak. Many will travel around one or more regions, doing such things as gathering information for a Pokédex, perfecting their technique, collecting badges, and working to become a Pokémon master. No matter what their specialties or aims, there is one code that they all follow - when two Trainers make eye contact, they must have a battle.
Pokemon Coordinator A Pokémon Coordinator is someone who raises Pokémon to compete in Pokémon Contests. They raise their Pokémon much like Pokémon Trainers do, although with much more emphasis on beauty and appearances since they are major factors when it comes to points in Contests. They need to train their Pokémon to have beautiful moves, and be able to do well in battles, as a battle tournament is the second round of a Contest.
Coordinators need a Contest Pass from a particular region to enter Contests there. Like Trainers, Coordinators travel throughout their region to catch and raise their Pokémon. However, unlike Trainers, their goal is to collect Ribbons instead of badges. But unlike badges, Coordinators only get a single shot of winning a particular ribbon from a particular contest. They also must compete with other Coordinators for that ribbon. They need to collect five ribbons by winning various Contests in the region in order to be able to participate in that region's Grand Festival. If they win the Grand Festival, they will be awarded the Ribbon Cup.
Pokemon Breeder Pokémon breeders typically concern themselves with raising Pokémon for health and happiness, rather than for Pokémon battles. They also participate in beauty contests and related competitions—not to be confused with Pokémon Contests, though it is common for them to take interest in these as well.
Aspects of Pokémon breeders in the anime typically also handle or cover include:
- Monitoring, taking care of, and hatching Pokémon eggs
- Pokémon grooming
- Pokémon nutrition
Gym Leader A Gym Leader is the highest ranking member of a Pokémon Gym. The main job of a Gym Leader is to test Trainers and their Pokémon so that they are strong and resourceful enough to compete against the Pokémon League. If a Trainer defeats a Gym Leader in battle, then the Trainer earns that Gym's Badge. Once a trainer has earned 8 badges from a region, he or she is able to compete against that region's Pokémon League.
Team Yin Team Yin in all sense and purposes is the exact opposite of Team Yang. Where the chaotic team tries to disrupt any and everything, Team Yin tries to restore the harmony that used to be the Ivy Region.
While they try to practice non-voilent ways to achieve their goals, when push comes to shove, action must be taken and violence is unavoidable. Team Yin is headquartered in Hazelnut Town way up in the mountains.
Team Yang Team Yang is an organized crime syndicate in pursuit of chaos and the exploitation of Pokémon based in the Ivy region headquartered in Admah City.
While their main focus is stealing or capturing, then selling, rare and strong Pokémon, they have recently started taking control of pokemon gyms and are making their way into the Elite Four. Their oath, as posted on the wall of one of their many bases, is "To create chaos throughout the world one region at a time." Their ultimate goal is to take over each and every pokemon gym and stop people from obtaining badges.
