After moving to the Ivy Region, Hazelnut Town specifically, Xzavier took it upon himself to request a pokemon to start his pokemon journey. He met with Dr. Redwood and was presented with three very different pokemon: Treecko, Totodile, and Charmander. In what seemed like hours, Xzavier had made his choice; Charmander who he had chosen to name Gambit Xzavier then went back home to start packing for his difficult trip. After saying his last goodbyes, he started on his way. Feeling uncertain though, Xzavier stopped and the Lodge to gather himself..
Walking in out of the freezing snow and wind, Xzavier made his way over to the front counter where an old lady was sitting with her equally old Smeargle laid down curled up in front of the counter. As Xzavier took off his snow gloves and hat, he requested a room for the night. "And how many will be staying in the room young man?" "Oh just one ma'am. Me and my pokemon," he replied politely.
Given his room number and key, the timid trainer hastily made his way up the stairs and down the hallway to his room. Once there, Xzavier placed his backpack and all of his winter gear on the bottom of the bunk bed. In the room was just the two beds, a bathroom, a table, an old lamp, a few chairs, and a window looking out to the rest of the snowy white town.
Xzavier looked out of the window in sadness. Sure he hadn't lived there for too long, but he knew that his home was now there and he would be leaving it all too soon. 'I cant believe I'm actually leaving mom and dad...' thought Xzavier. But then he remembered something: Charmander. Caught up in everything that was going through his mind, Xzavier completely forgot about his new pokemon.
He pulled out from his belt a small pokeball and pressed the middle button, increasing its size. Come on out Gambit, I think we should get to know each other a little bit. A red light raced out of the pokeball and formed into a short, orange pokemon with a vigorous flame coming from the end of it's tail. "Charr!," greeted the fire pokemon. He seemed happy to be outside of his pokeball.
"Hey Gambit, what do you say we head downstairs to the common area next to the fire place. It should be warmer down there." Xzavier was trying to get on Charmander's good side right off the bat, and he knew fire pokemon enjoyed being around fire. So with that knowledge, the two rookies headed downstairs to find the coziest spot next to the fire.

Anna Stevens hadn't had the best day. No one had mentioned that Hazelnut Town was close to freezing point in temperature all year round, and since checking a tourist guide- or a map- properly before she left hadn't occured to her, she'd shown up in an outfit that wasn't quite suited to the climate. Oh, and no one had mentioned it would be snowing either.
Her and Aries, her Erufuun, had wasted no time in dumping their bags and making their way to the common area of the lodge, where there happened to be a fire, something the two of them needed. Warmth had put them both in a considerably better mood, too, and they'd spent hours talking to the other trainers passing through, even having a quick sparring match with one of them whilst he waited for someone, which Aries had managed to win without too much difficulty. They'd been told that the bad weather would have cleared up tomorrow, and planned on heading out then.
After a lot of the visitors had headed off upstairs, wanting to get the earliest start possible tomorrow, Anna and Aries sat in one of the large armchairs close to the fireplace, Aries slowly making his way through the pile of toast next to them and Anna flicking through one of the books that had sat on the table, a big, thick thing which was labelled as a guide to the region, but from the photos alone seemed about 30 or 40 years out of date. In Anna's lap sat a Pokemon egg, which someone, a stranger, had given her on the ferry just as they were getting ready to leave the boat. She hadn't been so sure at first, but having the egg there was, in some strange way, a comfort. A sign that she'd already made it this far.
In truth, Anna felt a knot in her stomach. On the sea, it hadn't felt real, not quite, but now she was actually in Ivy, and tomorrow she'd be leaving to start off through the region she barely knew anything about. Homesickness and nerves meshed together to form her worries, and she sighed, making Aries jump a little and look up to the girl, frowning in concern. Saying nothing, she merely smiled and patted the small Pokemon's head. She wasn't alone, she reminded herself. She had Aries, and she had Blitz as well, a Jolteon tucked away inside the safety of her Pokeball. There was the egg, too, though Anna had no idea whatsoever what it contained, which only made her more eager for it to hatch. Unfortunately for her, the thing was still totally solid, and barely moved at all.
The girl heard the door open on the far side of the room, but didn't bother to look up. Instead, she took a small sip from the cup of instant soup she held in her hand. Not the nicest stuff, but it did the trick and warmed her up nicely. Anna moved her gaze from the book to the fireplace, watching it in silence. Plopping down next to the warm fire with his new pokemon laying next to him, the young trainer closed his eyes for a split second. Thinking of all the different kinds of adventures he might have in this region. Picturing himself with a powerful Charizard flying him from one gym to the other demanding a battle. How the two of them would easily take down anyone who dared to fight. However that dream was short lived. Xzavier was brought to reality with the sound of his Charmander bouncing up and down flapping his arms. 'Looks like he wants to fly too,' smiled the young trainer.
Xzavier lazily sat up and looked around the cozy room. Gambit was jumping off of the table by now. There however was someone else in the room who Xzavier mistakenly didn't notice right away. A young girl who looked around his same age with a pokemon he had never seen before next to her. And in her lap was an eggs. As it had been Xzavier's dream to become a well known pokemon professor, seeing a pokemon he's never seen before and a mysterious egg, it would be against all judgment not to introduce himself.
"Hello miss. Name's Xzavier, may I ask yours?" When it came to new things or new people, Xzavier was a little shy at first. Hopefully he'd make a good impression on the girl. It'd be a shame not to get off on the right foot just hours into his first day on his own. "Char-" the little Charmander dropped to his bottom as he jumped off of a shelf. "Oh and that little guy over there is Gambit. I just got him today" He looked over at his pokemon as he looked discouraged for failing to fly, "Come over here Gambit and introduce yourself"
The little fire pokemon promptly got up to see what was so important that he had to stop his flying practice. Seeing that it was another person and her pokemon and egg, Gambit didn't really care too much, but introduced himself anyways. He'd much rather be out flying right now or training, but this would have to do as it was too cold outside to train and there just wasn't enough space in here to fly.
The two rookies together looked out of place. Xzavier, normally confident and strong willed, looked as though he had just committed a crime punishable by death. And Charmander, normally cocky and arrogant, was well....nothing had really changed for him. The only reason he was being polite was because he had nothing better to do. To Xzavier, this was going to be a learning experience for him and Gambit. He knew they were going to start off rocky, but in time would hopefully grow strong together. To Gambit he had it in his mind that he was going to do what he wanted when he wanted no questions asked. To him, he was in control and if anyone tried to question that, well....they had better not.

Though she was aware of someone else in the room, Anna wasn't paying attention until she heard the guy's voice, snapping out of her daze and looking up, blinking for a moment or two before smiling and nodding, trying not to laugh. She wasn't used to being addressed as 'miss'. Hell, she wasn't even used to using her full name now, always taking a moment to realise people were actually talking to her when they said it.
The teen straightened herself up, keeping her legs as still as possible to try and keep the egg undisturbed. "Anna." she answered simply, offering her hand for the boy to shake with a tight smile. "Nice to meet you." Hearing the thud from across the room, her eyes darted to the Charmander, and she grinned as Xzavier introduced the Pokemon. "Hey there, Gambit." As the Charmander walked over, Aries parted from his plate of toast and hopped down to greet the young Pokemon, offering a paw.
"That would be Aries." Anna explained, briefly petting her friend and smiling, before motioning to the egg in her lap. "No clue what this'll be yet, though. But if a Monmen hatches from it, Aries will be getting a grilling." she laughed, as her Pokemon looked over and shook his head, pouting. The girl stuck out her tongue in response. "Oh come on, I was kidding. And like there'd be another Erufuun around on that boat anyway." she smiled, lifting up her Pokemon and ruffling his fur, before turning back to Xzavier.
"So this is your first day as a trainer? Awesome. Great weather for it." she said sarcastically, grinning. "You from around here, or further out? We just got here from Hoenn a few hours ago." Anna explained, taking another sip from her drink afterwards. "Here's hoping the weather clears up a little by tomorrow so we can actually get going, huh?"
Hearing this, Aries nodded, now happily sitting in Anna's lap, with the egg resting against his stomach, and going back to his pile of toast, offering a slice to Gambit with a grin while he chewed. Anna, meanwhile, watched the small Pokemon with a smile. It didn't seem so long ago that Aries had arrived, young and wanting to take on the world and everyone in it. She hadn't been around as many new trainers before, and it definitely felt a little weird for her, even if coming to this new region meant she was pretty much in the same situation as them anyway. Snapping out of her thoughts, she smiled again, briefly straightening the pair of goggles atop her head before placing her arms around her Pokemon. So her name was Anna then? Simple enough to remember. She seemed very nonchalant about everything in the room. Just sitting there on the couch minding her own business and Gambit made the room his jungle gym and as Xzavier full on fell to the ground, overwhelmed by his current position. And now the introductions had came about and she seemed to enjoy it a little at the very least. Maybe this would turn into a full on conversation. Or at least that's what Xzavier had hoped.
"Nice to meet you too Anna," he gave a small shy smile as she introduced her pokemon, "and you as well Aries." Xzavier still didn't know what kind of pokemon it was. Very fluffy looking, and obviously a grass type. 'Hmmm...' he decided not to put her pokemon on the spot right now. Maybe if time permits later and he doesn't forget. Gambit however didn't waste any time in shaking the pokemon's paw. It was good that the two seemed to get along so far.
Xzavier took note as Anna and her pokemon, apparently an Erufuun, joked around for a second. Anyone could tell that two seemed to have a great friendship and enjoyed each other's company. Xzavier hoped that it wouldn't take long for Gambit and himself to bond like that. He wondered how long the two had known each other before coming her.
"Yeah nothing like a good ol' snow storm," returning the sarcasm. "I actually moved here a few weeks ago from the Sinnoh Region. I'm not really used to all this snow" Xzavier remembered his warm days back home walking to and from school and playing outside with his friends and his parent's pokemon. He missed those days. "And I know for certain Gambit wont last long in this kind of weather, so yeah I'm counting on tomorrow not being so bad." He looked over and his little Charmander who was currently showing off for Aries.
Xzavier had planned on getting an early start tomorrow before and large amounts of snow come in. He had to get off of the mountain as soon as possible tomorrow or risk getting caught in a freezing blizzard. If he and Gambit could pull it off before nightfall, then their journey from here on out should be cake. Just as long as no people or pokemon give them any trouble.
Not being able to contain himself, Xzavier jumped into what seemed like a game of 20 Questions. "So you're a trainer right? Or a breeder? Don't tell me you're a ranger?" his eyes widened at the possibility. "How long have you been with Aries. Do you have any other pokemon?" Realizing what he was doing, Xzavier forced himself to stop before he overdid it and drove his new acquaintance away.

Nodding as the boy spoke, Anna smiled when he mentioned Sinnoh- that was why his accent sounded a little familiar to her. She had a few relatives in Sinnoh herself, who lived just outside Veilstone, and the few times she and her parents had been over, the region had certainly seemed like a great place.
She grinned as he commented on the snow. "Yeah, Aries isn't a big fan of snow either." the girl mused, her friend shaking his head then nodding, a sign of agreement. Anna herself didn't mind the snow so much, it had just come as a surprise, and the fact she hadn't dressed for a snowstorm definitely hadn't helped at all.
As Xzavier spurted out the series of questions, Anna merely found herself laughing a little, amused by his eagerness and the speed he was apparently able to ask questions. "Trainer and Coordinator. I dabble." she smiled, shrugging her shoulders. "Though, we're not really aiming for the League right now, I don't think... Just trying to travel, learn new things, y'know?" As much as she enjoyed battling, and as competitive as she knew she could be at times, she didn't see herself trying to win the League, not yet. Right now, all Anna felt was uncertainty. Her parents may have known what they were doing, but she didn't yet feel the same way.
"As for Aries, it's just hit five years. Right, bud?" The Pokemon grinned and nodded. "A gift from my parents." she added as a quick explanation, smiling to herself. "And yeah, I have a Jolteon, Blitz, too." As she said this, she found herself placing a hand over her pocket, where the Pokeball sat in safety. "Who managed to fall asleep on the ferry while the rest of us were packing." Anna added with a laugh.
Her attention then returned to Xzavier. "So, what about you, mister asks-a-lot-of-questions-at-once?" she grinned, "What's your career path?" He certainly seemed like a Trainer to her, but there was no real way to be certain without actually asking- and evidently the two of them were at the point of conversation where questions came.
Now finished with his toast, Aries briefly patted his stomach before scrambling up the side of the armchair to sit on Anna's shoulder, the perch he usually took when they were on the road and he didn't feel like walking himself. Instinctively, Anna moved her arm to the Erufuun, scratching him behind the ear gently and smiling as the Pokemon yawned, slumping down and making himself comfortable, trying to stay awake.
Anna patted her friend's head before she turned to Xzavier's Charmander again. "So, you're gonna be a big, strong Charizard one day, right Gambit?" she grinned, enjoying how enthusiastic the small Fire type seemed. Being away from home, no matter how far was tough. Leaving everything he knew back in Sinnoh and then leaving his family in this strange region to start a life for himself, Xzavier was indeed in over his head. He had limited money, limited food and supplies, and probably even more limited, his confidence. He was ultimately unsure of his abilities to make it to the Ivy League. He wasn't even sure he could make it out of these mountains. Slowly but surely however, as time passed in the common room near the fire, life didn't seem so overwhelming.
To Xzavier, Anna seemed like an easy person to talk to. She was easy on the eyes, had a good sense of humor, and had a motherly aspect about her that Xzavier just couldn't put his thumb on. Not wanting to jump to conclusions, Xzavier secretly hoped that the two of them would at least leave the mountains together. That way he and Gambit wouldn't be so alone. And surely being an experienced trainer, she had to have had a few tricks up her sleeve if things got out of hand. Xzavier didn't want to seem like the needy type though.
"Five years? Wow, you must've been in tons of battles," the curious trainer currently couldn't even fathom five years, let alone one week. "For me personally though, I'm shooting for the top." All shyness out the window now, Xzavier was very adamant about his future and what he wanted to do. "My ultimate goal is to become a renowned pokemon professor. That's always been my dream. Competing in the various leagues around the world is only the beginning." Winning the leagues weren't necessarily his goal. But at least competing in them and getting his name out there would help when he became a professor.
Directing the attention back to their pokemon, Xzavier took note at how naturally Anna's Erufuun made his way to her shoulder like it was an every day things. He pictured Gambit trying to do the same thing and laughed at what would surely be a disaster. Then Anna playfully asked Gambit about becoming a Charizard. The flame pokemon enthusiastically responded while he jumped up trying to fly again. "I think he's ready to be a Charizard now if you ask me," Xzavier enjoyed a small laugh. Truthfully he couldn't wait either. Flying to the top of Victory Mountain and taking on the league seemed pretty cool. But he knew there would be a lot of training before they reached that point.

Anna laughed, nodding in response. "A fair few battles, yeah." the girl answered simply, smiling. Perhaps not as many as some people would have gotten through in five years, but they'd still managed to learn enough to up their confidence a fair bit, and pick up some decent battle strategies that worked well enough.
"Wow, a professor. That's pretty cool." Anna found herself envying the boy a little: he, unlike her, had an actual career path in mind and a goal to work towards. Though planning ahead further than a month or two had never been something Anna did, or wanted to- she was happy to take things as they came and see what happened- she had always sort of admired the ones who knew exactly what they wanted to do, and could actually stick to it.
"Competing in the various leagues around the world is only the beginning." She had to hand it to Xzavier, he was certainly confident. Not that it was a bad thing, quite the opposite, Anna knew from her time in the Trainer's School she'd attended back in Hoenn that confidence was definitely important to a trainer. The confident pupils were usually the ones that got the furthest in the end. Battles weren't the place for doubts.
The teen smiled in agreement, still watching Gambit's antics. "He'll be flying in no time, I bet, if he's always this eager." Anna mused, half talking to herself. It was hard to believe this little lizard, only the same size as Aries, would end up a huge dragon someday- one of many things that attracted Anna to the life of a trainer, being able to experience such things with the Pokemon she'd bonded with. Except all of her partners, thus far, hadn't grown an awful lot after evolving.
Still perched on her shoulder, Aries turned onto his side, resting his head against Anna's and mumbling as he tried to keep himself from falling asleep. +Too much toast...+ Anna laughed, gently tickling the Pokemon. "I told you it was a dumb idea to eat it all, you just refused to listen." Aries only grunted in response, not bothering to answer properly because he knew Anna was right, and he had indeed over-eaten. A lot.
As Aries nodded off, Anna picked him up gingerly and placed him on her lap, next to egg that already sat there, and pulled her open sweater around them as best she could, the Erufuun still occaisionally muttering something as he fell asleep. Anna took one last drink, gulping what was left- and not all that hot now either- and then setting the cup down on the table.
Anna looked back over to Xzavier and Gambit. "He's usually a lot more hyped up than this, I'm worried you're getting the impression my little bud here is infact a sensible Pokemon." she joked, shrugging a little. Words: 480 Comments: Just in case, Aries isn't speaking english or anything, it's just a translation, as Anna understands it. <3[/size][/i]

Xzavier had to think about it for a moment, 'a sensible pokemon...?' then finally after a few seconds he let out a heartfelt laugh showing that he got the joke. It was always fun to tease your pokemon when they did something crazy or out of the ordinary. Being a trainer for not even a full twenty four hours, Xzavier didn't really have anything to tease Gambit about except for the fact that he kept on trying to fly.
He looked back from Aries to Gambit and back again. Xzavier's mind instantly spaced out. He imagined how a battle might turn out if the two pokemon were to fight. Surely Aries is plenty of levels ahead of Gambit, but the Charmander had a large type advantage. It was sad to think about, but Xzavier knew in his mind that his pokemon wouldn't be ready for a battle against any of Anna's pokemon no matter what type they were.
"So when were you planning on heading out tomorrow?" Xzavier noticed it was getting darker outside, signaling sunset. "Me personally, I'm just going to head out at sunrise. That way Gambit and I should be off the mountain by hopefully mid-afternoon." There was no way Xzavier could get stuck on the mountain after nightfall. If that were to happen, everything he hoped to accomplish would instantly become a whole lot more difficult. It was just a good thing he happened to have a fire pokemon with him if he needed to make a fire and camp out for the night. That however was worst case senario.
Gambit let out a big yawn. He was getting sleepy, and was beginning to have daydreams of tomorrow. He couldn't wait to show off his strength to Xzavier. Any pokemon that dared show their face would wish they were never born. Gambit figured he needed all the training he could get so he could evolve as soon as possible. The quicker he evolved, he knew the quicker he would start flying and really be a force worth reckoning with. Word Count: 350 Comments: Sorry it's so short. It's almost 12am here

Anna thought about Xzavier's question for a moment, then nodded in agreement. "Sounds like a good idea... Definitely don't want to get caught on the mountain tomorrow night, if the weather turns like this again." she said, motioning to the window briefly. It was true, getting caught in the snowstorm while she was at the Lodge was one thing, but out on the mountain was something entirely different and far more dangerous. She knew she wouldn't be able to handle it, and Aries certainly wouldn't.
Considering this, Anna scratched her head. "Yeah, we'll need to set out pretty early on too, camping out in bad weather was never our strong point." It wasn't like she had a Pokemon who could brave the winds and fly them across Ivy either, every Pokemon Anna owned she could easily pick up in her arms and carry if she needed to. None of them were exactly built for this kind of extreme weather. There was the egg too- it needed to be kept safe and warm. In a snowstorm, that wouldn't happen easily.
As Gambit yawned, Anna found herself doing the same. Traveling for the past couple of days had taken it out of her, and it was starting to show now she'd managed to sit down for more than a couple of minutes. The girl really needed to rest before starting off tomorrow, or she'd end up faceplanting the snow and sleeping there, freezing in the process. Which, oddly enough, she didn't quite like the sound of.
"I think we'll head back to our room in a few." Anna said quietly, her eyelids heavy. "Pretty sure we're not meant to just crash down here." she added, laughing a little. It was a pity, too, since she was pretty comfortable in this big armchair next to the fireplace, with Aries and the egg in her lap. A warm bed, however, did sound like a good substitute- and it was a little more private and small than this big room was.
Anna stood up, gently holding the egg and Aries in one arm whilst she opened her bag with the other, easing the Erufuun inside so she could safely carry the two back to her room with less chance of hurting one of them- or herself. Once Aries was snug inside the open bag, Anna glanced back to Gambit for a moment, then Xzavier, grinning then yawning again.
